Poetry is a form of expression.  The power of poetry has enabled authors to use this literary form to give insight into peoples' feelings, thoughts, and experiences.  Poetry is a great starting point for a class to dive into sensitive topics, many that involve the historical mistreatment of Asians.  Poetry encourages children to express themselves and to connect and find meaning in their experiences.
