Generational Gaps
One's generational status is a primary factor in one's identity. Second-generation children often face the challenge of a feeling of disconnect between their Canadian and home values and experiences.
First-generation: people who are born outside Canada, including immigrants or refugees.
Second-generation: people who were born in Canada and had at least one parent born outside Canada.
Third-generation: people who are born in Canada with both parents born in Canada.
